India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his consistent run in red-ball cricket, scoring a century in the first innings. India skipper Shubman Gill, who notched up his maiden Test century in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) conditions, has returned to the top 20, securing the 20th spot in the latest ICC Test rankings.
Fellow opener KL Rahul also made strides, jumping 10 places to 38th. Rahul scored 137 in the second innings, following up on a fluent 42 in the first before falling to a wide delivery by Brydon Carse. His performances in both innings contributed significantly to India’s overall total.

England pulled off a remarkable chase of 371 in the final innings to win the Headingley Test by five wickets, despite India putting up over 800 runs across two innings. Their win was anchored by some brilliant individual performances that were reflected in the updated ICC rankings.
