A promising allrounder who has battled through a succession of injury problems, Matthew Waite had made 27 appearances over a six-year period in the Yorkshire first team, before signing a new two-year contract at the end of the 2020 season. Waite made his debut against Sri Lanka A as an 18-year-old and was named Yorkshire's Young Player of the Year in 2016. The following year he scored a maiden List A half-century - 71 off 58 balls against Warwickshire at Edgbaston - and featured for the first time in the Championship, but ankle surgery ruled him out of the second half of the season. Appearances since have been limited, though he claimed a maiden five-wicket haul against Leeds/Bradford MCCU at the start of the 2019 summer.
ESPNcricinfo staff.
