An explosive top order batter in the limited over formats, Finn Allen made his T20I debut against Bangladesh at Hamilton in March 2021. It wasn't a great debut though as Allen was dismissed for a duck in his very first internation match. However, he played a better knock later in the same series. In the third T20I of his debut series, Allen played a breathtaking knock at Auckland where he smashed 71 off 29 deliveries. An innings where he scored at an outstanding strike rate of 244.82 that consisted of 10 boundaries and three maximums.
Allen notched up his maiden century in the shortest format against Scotland at Edinburgh and proved his mettle. As a result of that innings, NZ posted a huge first innings total of 225 and they won that particular contest by 68 runs. Following that knock he had a string of low scores in T20Is, but Allen played some useful knocks in ODIs where he chipped in with handy contributions for a brief period. The aggressive opener has the potential to play aggressive knocks and give quick starts, but he lacks consistency. He'll probably get better with experience, and on his day he has the ability to take down most of the bowling attacks..
